CARACURE — Benny Bursell Portfolio

Visual identity for caracure, an electronic dance music project inspired by warped childhood memories, rebirth, and the good of the moment. The music’s pulsing percussion arrangements, bright retro-inspired synths, and ear-worm vocal chops are characterized through a handful of unique visual devices.

The system utilizes waveform graphics generated from the music to visualize sound in motion in respect to the sequence of time. The logotype underscores the use of waveform graphics along with custom lettering and a frog icon. Footage from home videos is used in stills and motion graphics, textured with glitches and artifacts in the same regard that memories become warped with time. The type pairing gives flexibility for sophisticated content and moments of whimsy. All of this comes to life in a subdued, sun-faded palette—like your favorite vintage tee shirt. The system is dynamic but doesn’t take itself too seriously; it’s reminiscent of a time when there were cavemen in car insurance ads—and it wasn’t corny.

The project scope includes a logo suite, cover artwork & visualizer for the debut single “Green Light”, branded assets for social media, and comprehensive brand guidelines.
